Plastic model boat kits have always been a favorite among model builders.  The amount of detail that plastic model boat kits have is amazing.  One of the enjoyable facets of building boats and ships is the diversity and building options available.

Plastic model boat kits come in various scales ranging from 350th to 1/32.  As a child I remember my dad building a wooden boat kit of an aircraft carrier that was over three foot long. Ship scale models are available from a wide variety of manufacturers including Revell, Trumpeter, Tamiya, Italeri, Airfix, Minicraft and more. The majority of manufacturers offer several different scale plastic model ship kits.

You as a model builder can find kits of Destroyers, PT Boats, Aircraft Carriers, Submarines, German U Boats, Hospital ships, Assult ships and Steamboats to mention a few.  One of my favorites is the Titanic Deluxe 1/350 scale offered by Minicraft Models.  It is based on the data recently obtained through surveys of the R.M.S. Titanic on the ocean floor.
