Mignot is the oldest toy soldier company in operation, although there seems to be some question as to their continued manufacture of toy soldiers. Mignot was formed by the partnership of Cuperly, Blondel and Gerbeau and registered as C B G. In1897, Heni Mignot, a grandnephew of Cuperly, joined the company as technical adviser. The turn of the century saw the elder Gerbeau pass on and his son announced the partnership with H. Mignot. In 1912 H. Mignot ended the partnership and took full control of C B G. In 1928 C B G bought controlling interest in Lucotte and seem to have marketed them side by side with its own product line. During the early 1930's the firm introduced the solid aluminum figures under the name of Mialu, followed by two innovations in the late 1930's. Surprisingly in 1948 aluminum figures were its biggest sellers. Mignot also started a line of plastic figures in 1955. In spite of ownership changes, several major wars and a bankruptcy, it continues to produce toy soldiers and figures today. Always high priced compared to its competitors and even considered 'connoisseur figures', Mignot figures have found a permanent home among collectors and on the shelves with William Britain, Hyde, Lionel and other less expensive manufacturers.
