Custer's Last Stand
Black Hawk Toy Soldier by Andrea Depot USA has released the stunning series Custer Last Stand. Custer Last Stand was part of the Sioux Wars. By the summer of 1876, the Sioux War’s had been going on for over 20 years. The bloodshed began in 1854 near Fort Laramie in what was then Nebraska Territory. When Sioux warriors killed several American soldiers, it began a series of wars that would last until 1890.
The most famous battle of these wars is The Battle of Little Bighorn (1876) also known as Custer’s last stand. The actual details of that final stand will most likely never be known, because it remains one of the most devastating defeats in United States Military History. After the battle was over and the field had been vacated by the victorious Sioux, the tattered survivors of the 7th Calvary found over 200 men dead and stripped at Little Big Horn. Not a single trooper or scout from the companies that General Custer personally led into battle that day survived, but instead laid where they had fallen against Sioux forces more than twice their size.
