HO Scale

HO Scale

The most popular electric model train size worldwide is HO scale or HO gauge. HO scale grew in popularity in the 1950’s and overtook the larger O gauge in the 1960’s. Many model railroaders find HO the right size for their layouts. HO scale locomotives and rolling stock are durable and fun to play with, but still small enough that a large complex layout can be constructed in a fairly small amount of square footage. Today’s HO scale locomotives run primarily on direct current through the tracks to power the locomotives, some of the newer models have Digital Command Systems (DCS). Digital Command Systems allow specific instructions to be sent to each engine even if the model electric trains are running on the same track. Please check the details of each item to find out if this feature is available on that specific electric train. Here at Trains and Toy Soldiers our selection is currently limited but prices are excellent. We also stock of few complete starter and specialty train sets, which include most of what you need to jump directly into this great hobby. There are numerous HO manufactures, including but not limited to Atlas, Bachmann, Broadway Limited, HAG, Intermountain, Kato, Model Power, MTH, Precision Craft Models, Fox Valley, and many more. Looking for an out of production or hard to find specific piece, locomotive or rolling stock? If you don’t see it below, email us and let us know what you are searching for and we will keep an eye out. “Trains and Toy Soldiers” knows that our continued success depends on helping our fellow model electric railroaders get the right item to accent their layout. One of the key strengths of Micro Trains is their focus on accuracy and authenticity. They work hard to produce models that are true-to-life and representative of the real-world trains and historical railroads that they represent. This attention to detail is evident in every aspect of their products, from the intricate detailing on the train cars to the realistic paint schemes and decals.
