The Pinewood Derby is an American Boy Scouts racing event for Cub Scouts. The Cub Scouts’ derby program run by Murphy was able to build their kids cars from kits and accessories that contain metal axles, plastic wheels and blocks of pine. The first pinewood derby known as “Soap Box Derby Race” took place in California at the house of Scout in the mid twentieth century. Murphy’s child was still very young and was ineligible to participate in the popular race. Thus, they had to come up with the idea of producing miniature wood cars for the kids to race and have some fun. The Pinewood derby toys became so popular that, with time some other companies started producing similar Pinewood derby toys with the inclusion of ribbons, trophies, scales, timers, tracks and other products. The pinewood derby toy cars are very easy to assemble and they come in different pieces. They are strong, rugged, not easily destructible and interesting to kids. Apparently it is a must buy for your kids.
