S Gauge
S Gauge modelers are smaller but a growing community. S Gauge is the usual term for modeling at 1:64 ratio or put it another way in S Gauge 3/16″ equals one foot in the real world. Railroad modeling in S Gauge is routinely divided into standard gauge modeling, by far the most common, and narrow gauge modeling. In Standard gauge convention, modelers reproduce a full sized track gauge of 4′ and 8 1/2″ by use of a track gauge of 22.42 mm or 0.883 of an inch. Narrow S gauge models fall into a different track gauges and we currently don’t carry this type of S Gauge model.
The standards for S gauge are agreed upon by both National Association of Model Railroaders (NMRA) and National Association of S Gaugers (NASG.) S Gauge modelers will tell you that, “S Gauge is the best choice for your model electric railroading layout.” And admittedly, S Gauge modelers make a strong case. S gauge is smaller than O gauge but larger than HO, so many railroad modelers feel they provide the best of both worlds. Here at Trains and Toy Soldiers, we just love all electric model trains of every scale we have every found, so it would be hard for us to choose.
