African Korps
After the soldiers of British Empire overcame enormous odds to repel the Italian 10th army in 1940, Hitler dispatched the Afrika Korps to conquer the British held Egypt and seize the Suez Canal. With the British Empire in the balance, for the Suez Canal was the lynch pin to India and India was the heart of Empire, the soldiers of the Empire and soldiers of the Reich grappled for every inch. Hills, valleys, and towns were occupied and then reconquered and then occupied again. The ancient city of Tobruk was conquered four times between 1941 and 1942. Commanded by Erwin Rommel, the Afrika Korps, was respected even by their enemies for daring and valor. Only at Second Battle of El Alamein in November 1942, outnumbered two to one was the Afrika Korps soundly defeated. Even in defeat, the Afrika Korps retreated in good order and made the allies suffer for ground they gained. The figurines, toy soldiers and models of King & Country allow you to recreate this history for yourself.
