Produced between 1972 and 1989, the SD40-2 was the most successful of EMD's "Dash 2" series of road switchers. More than 4000 of this 6-axle model were produced, mostly for operators within North America, although a number of examples made it as far as Australia, South America, and elsewhere internationally. Their ability to ably handle road freight and switching operations made them a fast favorite among early operating crews and ensures that the type remains an essential component to the roster of most major freight railroads today. The Bachmann SD40-2 makes its first appearance in our N scale line in almost two decades with completely new tooling, DCC Econami™ Sound Value On Board®, era-specific front-end configurations, and a range of authentic paint schemes

Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
