Outstanding Realism:
Constant and directional lighting and lighted number boards. M. U. packages as appropriate to the prototype road. Each model includes consumer-applied parts including sunshades, all-weather windows and spark arrestors where applicable to the prototype. SW9/1200's were part of a series of switchers similar in appearance produced by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors starting in the mid-1930's. Although the colorful road units received more publicity, these switchers were among the first widely accepted diesel locomotives.

The welded frame SW9 and 1200 provided 1200 horsepower and the ability to negotiate tight curves. Their light weight and small size made them perfect for yard switchers, although they could sometimes be seen doing road work as well. The popularity of these units kept them in production from 1951 through 1966, and some can still be seen switching in yards today.

The PROTO 2000 SW9/SW1200 will be available in two numbers for each of the following roads: AT&SF; ACL; B&M; BN; C&NW; Chessie; L&N; NP; PRR; B&O; FEC; GN; N&W; NKP; NYC; RI; Southern (C of G); WAB; C&O; CB&Q; Conrail; EL; IC; LV; MILW; MP; and UP.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
