Bring the charm of the Chesapeake Bay to your workbench with the Atlantis Models Skipjack Carrie Price plastic model kit.

This attractive 1:60 scale sailing vessel measures approximately 12 inches long when complete and includes 55 parts. Molded in white, the kit also includes tan rigging thread, a display stand, and detailed instructions, making it a rewarding build for ship modelers, maritime history fans, and collectors of classic working boats.

The Skipjack Carrie Price represents a traditional Chesapeake Bay oyster dredging boat, a type of shallow-draft sailing vessel once used throughout the region's oyster industry. Skipjacks were built for hard work in coastal bay waters, where they needed to handle both deep channels and shallow flats. Their centerboard design allowed the board to be lowered in deeper water for stability under sail, then raised when working in shallow areas.

For generations, these boats were an important part of Chesapeake Bay life. Until 1942, sail power was the only power permitted for oyster dredging in the region, making the skipjack one of the last working commercial sailing vessels in America. Over time, many original skipjacks were converted to power, while others became treasured historic vessels or inspired modern pleasure boats.

With its graceful lines, working-boat heritage, and classic sailing profile, the Skipjack Carrie Price makes a beautiful display model. Whether shown on its included stand, added to a maritime collection, or finished as part of a Chesapeake Bay diorama, this kit captures the quiet beauty of a skipjack on the water at sunset.
